So if you have a crap squad and you’re scouting a mediocre player, the scout is going to rate him more positively. Vice versa for a powerhouse.

If you took the scout’s rating of Nick Powell at face value, he would’ve have told you that Powell is comparable to Giggs or Ashley Young, and an upgrade over Anderson and Cleverley. That’s not bad company.

I’ve noticed, by the way, that the rating of a player (the “stars rating”) changes upwards or downwards if the player perform well or bad in a season, even if their stats doesnt change. I think there are a number of variables that have inffluence in the “star ratings”, just like in the real life. Congrats for the post, anyway. Very good blog.
