Football Manager 14 Possible Features: Team Talk Mod’s
I have a confession, one that is shared amongst several of my Football Manager friends, one that I am fairly ashamed about and one that should never be possible, I for one, hope that it is not a similar story on Football Manager 14.
Firstly though, let me quote something I read previously about Football Manager 13, may even have been 12. When choosing your team talk statements, do not overuse one or two statements in particular, players will grow ignorant of your talks if you do so.
Back to my confession: there is only 1 pre-match and half time team talks that actually works, well sorry I mean 2 but the principal remains the same.
Pre-game on Football Manager 2013, anything but ‘I have faith’ type talks go un-listened to, if your lucky ‘for the fans’ may get you one or two ‘green’ players, if your even luckier ‘no pressure’ will result in only a 4-0 loss. So what choice do you have?
It’s the same story at half time, you have to choose either ‘I have faith’ or have a go at your players if you are losing to get a decent reaction.
So there are probably 3-4 choices you have to actually help your players.
I hope that SI improve this functionality on Football Manager 14 because it is so frustrating.
What is even more frustrating is when you say ‘I have faith’ and all your players are looking happy and motivated, you are playing away to Millwall (2 divisions below you) who all have very poor morale. Guess what, you lose 3-0. WTF?
For Football Manager 2014, they have to either scrap the team talk situation or create an easier but more elaborate array of conversations. Perhaps even use the ‘Team Meeting’ type scenario, where you actually address your team and can gauge reactions on comments and answer player concerns.
Though, this does need tweaking to, how frustrating is it when you say something like “come on guys, lets kick on and win the league”, all your players react positively, you ask the Captain and he says “he’s right, lets do this” and you say “that’s exactly the reaction that I was looking for” and all your players go red, unhappy with your statement, WTF? I have played around with this loads, none of it makes any sense.
